MEDITATION

Introduction

The following is a bonus assignment to the Future Letter.   

I personally love this meditation. If you are new to meditation try it out. It’s actually fun.

LESSON

"Meditation"

Let’s begin by finding a quiet space. (With practice you could meditate in a busy space but until then find a quiet place) Find a comfortable upright position. Relax your mind, your thoughts and your body. 

Slowly” begin releasing from your daily activities. Place your thoughts into the moment of where you are. As you relax allow your self to feel joy and all the prosperity from what your future has in store for you…. skip over any doubt that may pop up…. feel the happiness and relish in the soon to be moments as you look at what you’ll be doing and where you’ll be five months from now. 

Remember no judgement…. only belief in what you are capable of.

Simply allow yourself to go freely, willingly and openly to a place you want more than anything.

Let’s Begin:

Allow yourself to get relaxed. Close your eyes and begin to slowly breathe inward and slowly breathe back out. Breathe as slow as you can…. FOCUS on the pattern of your breathing. As you breathe in… feel the air go inward through your throat and down into your lungs. Pause the breath for a few seconds. Then slowly feel the air releasing out of your lungs, back up through your throat and out either through your nose or your mouth. Repeat this five times.

Right now it doesn’t matter if you go in or out of your nose or mouth. Just breathe comfortably.

As you repeat this five time slowly imagine your body start to rise off the floor. 

Large glass doors on one side of the room open to reveal a peaceful natural landscape. You are drawn to this peaceful majestic place and you “slowly drift outside” to take in the beautiful, breathtaking vibrant colors, sounds and view.

You find yourself quietly observing your future self, exactly one month from now. You see yourself happy, laughing, smiling…. healthy and doing something that you love.

  • What are you doing? 
  • How do you look? 
  • How do you feel? 

 

When you feel as though you have taken in this scene, sit back, relax and watch your new you.

A few moments later, slowly allow your body to rise again… drift up and away to another place, two months into the future. Again you observe your future self. 

Where are you now? 

What are you doing? 

How do you look? 

How do you feel? 

Do you want to talk to your future self? 

If so approach your future self and ask a question of your choosing. Once you have the response and when you feel as though you have taken in this scene, sit back, relax and simply watch your future self for a few moments.

When you’re ready to move on… slowly allow your body to rise again… drift up and away to another place, three months into the future. Again you have the opportunity to observe your future self. Where are you now? What are you doing? How do you look? How do you feel? When you feel as though you have taken in this scene, sit back and relax.

Slowly your body starts to rise again… you drift up and away to another place, four months into the future. Again you have the opportunity to observe your future self. Where are you now? What is your future self doing? How does your future self look? How do you feel? When you feel as though you have taken in this scene, sit back, relax…. and watch your future self.

When you’re ready to move on slowly allow your body to rise again… drift up and away to another place, five months into the future. This place is by a beautiful lake. Watch as the sun begins to set over the stunning landscape. As the moon appears in the sky, you see your future self. You approach each other, smiling and feeling at ease. How does your future self look? How do you feel?

As you stand together by the lake, the moon reflected in its water, you ask your future self one question. Now listen carefully. After receiving your answer, you say thank you… I love you… turn and walk away. You sit back down and relax.

Slowly your body starts to rise, drift up and away. Your body approaches a house and large glass doors open to allow your body to drift into the same room you started your journey in.

Your body starts to descend, then lands gently, and once again you find yourself sitting in a comfortable quiet room.

A screen appears in front of you and on it are projected numbers. They count up, from 1 to 10.

1… 2… 3… 4… 5… 6… 7… 8… 9… 10…

Now slowly open your eyes and find yourself sitting comfortably where you are.

To end this experience and to solidify what you have envisioned, create a collage of images that help tell the story of what you saw or evoke the same positive emotions.

NOTE: If you are new to meditation its ok if you make it to just the first minute or two. Practice this meditation and overtime you will get through the whole meditation. Once you feel comfortable with this meditation turn the months into years.
